Diary of an Englishman

Dear Diary

Day 1

If you look very closely I lived in the bottom part of 15 area under the 13 which you could see pretty well. Also the worst thing happened to our group and all of our other groups the Patriots told us to leave America or become a Patriot and a traitor to the King. Since we took an oath we stayed loyal to the King and Britain so the Patriots kicked us out of America. The Patriots brought some other Loyalists to our camp and told us to follow the map up to Canada were we will be free. I didn't know why they did this to us they had no right my grand dad lived here and so did my father so I should to but our group had no guns or weapons to fight them to change their minds about letting us stay.

(Day 2)

The next day we got our things and we started to go and see a beautiful country called Lower Canada but I will miss America because I was living there for a long time and just all of a sudden they want us to get out of the country or betray our King and the Crown don't they know we took an oath that we won't disobey them. It was getting dark and my legs were starting to hurt because we were walking so much. My group was tired and so was, so we took a little break. When we were sitting down I was watching a guy in our team burning something and I pictured us burning on the way because the Patriots send some guys to kill us all or some of the other people in Canada might kill us. We slept and where we slept was if you look on the map we made it to the top of 15.

(Day 3)

It was very awful for us because 4 people died and those people were very good at cutting wood up and make it a campfire but now they are dead we have to do it. The people that died were 2 kids, 1 woman, 1 man. The bad thing was that they were a family and the way they died was because another guy in our group who was by himself and had lots of food didn't share any. So the husband was asking for food because one of their kid was a little bigger than the other kids so he ate a lot so the dad went to ask the guy but he didn't give any but I gave a little but in the night he died and so did the other kid because I forgot to give food to him and he didn't eat anything that day so he died and the mom and dad were so upset and so mad at us that they killed them selves. It was very upsetting and none of us got a good night sleep and the place we slept was in the bottom part of 13.

(Day 4)

The next day we buried them and we said some stuff about them but we didn't use their names because we didn't know their names. After we were done that we started to again but it was getting dark but we said we will go a little further ahead then stop and the reason is that we didn't walk today because we were digging a hole for the family and then put all it back. It took us a long time because we didn't have any tools so we couldn't do it fast. We set up our tents and we had a good long sleep because I went to bed before the other because they were eating their food but I told my family not to eat that day because our food pack was low so we kept it and they went to sleep to and were we slept.

(Day 5)

Today was the worst day to be walking because it was foggy and you couldn't see anything. Also my son was really tired which made it worse because I had to give him a piggyback ride. The good news was that we were close to Lower Canada but it was going to take another 2 days to get there or I think that is the amount to get there. My wife was getting sick and we didn't know what to do. Suddenly a person in the group called out and said" I think can help". The man just came and threw some water on my wife and she was okay and also she drank some and then she was normal.

(Day 6)

Today was a good day because nothing went wrong and no one got sick or died and the best thing is that when we were passing by a city a guy gave us food. After that we continued but we stopped after an hour and we ate some of it but we saved it for later when we were sitting down I was wondering if the British Colonists didn't like us and they decided to kick us out to then where would we live and how would I support my family but I was keeping hope and was thinking that they are good people and we will have a good life there.

(Day 7)

It was a miracle me and my family made it to Lower Canada and none of us died but I kept thinking about the Colonists in Upper Canada and how will they be. Some of the people went their separate ways and I think that they want to go to Nova Scotia because that is the way that they were going. Except my family and some other people went with us and where we were going was Quebec. When we got there people were looking at us and thought what should we do with these people. Well that is what I thought but I was wrong because they were very nice and every one of us were greeted very nicely. Good thing we moved here because here it is way better. My family and I were living in a nice house and every one was happy.

P.S: After we got there here is where I lived. If look very closely I lived in Trois-Rivireres

Assingment #8

Esmat: Ladies and Gentleman welcome to my show" Sit Down with Esmat". Some people think he is a hero but other people think he is a traitor With any futher a do please give a round of applause to the one and only ghost of Mr. Riel.

Esmat: Come on out Mr.Riel Mr. Riel how are you doing today, to honestly tell I never believed in ghost but I am talking to one right now and also it is a pleasure having on" Sit Down with Esmat". Also I hear you have a day named after you that must be something.

Riel: Well Esmat thank you for having me here on the show I am honored. Well Emsat yes it is and I want to thank those people that support me. Thank you all!!

Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Esmat: Settle down now. So Louis can I call you that. I am going to ask you some questions about your past which was a long time ago.

Riel: Yeah sure what do you want to ask me.

Esmat: Well we will start out slow okay. Like tell me the basic stuff about you like when you were born and how was it living in a big family with 10 sibligs it must have been tough. Then we will get into the hard questions.

Riel: Well if you want to find out those stuff just go on google and find or I can tell you right now. Well I was born on 22, October, 1844 in Red River Colony. Also I died at the age of 41 which is probably not the best age too die because it is to early to die well I did try to fight for what was right but sometimes you die. Lastly, as everyone might know that I am the founder of a great province named Manitoba.

Esmat: OH okay. Well lets keep moving. Question number two: What is your main job when you were alive and what did you do to help contribute to Canada's future.

Riel: That is a good question. Well my job was when I was alive was that I was a Canadian Politican and to answer your second question was that the way that I help Canada future, was that I was the leader of this aboringnal group called Metis and I fought for their rights and to save their houses and their culture. Also I led 2 groups againest the government because they had disrespected the Metis. No one cared about the Metis so someone had to be their protecter and I chose my self.

Esmat: That is good to know that you were a canadain politican and helped so many people also it is good that you got people to help the people of Metis. Also good to know that there were good people back then as of now there isn't that much

Riel: Yes it was.

Esmat: Okay on to our next question. I heard that you lost but everyone loses at some point but I you shouldn't have lost. As I was saying can you tell us something about the groups that you led againest to face Sir John A. MacDonald.

Riel: Okay well as your other question this one is pretty good. Well Esmat the first group that I took fought from the year 1869-1870 and what the people called it was the Red River Rebellion.
We made a Provisional government and managed to get Manitoba into the Canadian Condfedration. The second rebellion was known as the North-Western Rebellion but that was the bad one because we lost and I lost my life. The way that I died was very bad but in the old time it was very common, I was hanged up. Also many of the Metis moved from Manitoba to Saskatchwan. Lastly this rebellion lasted only 3 months i the year 1855.

Esmat: Good so onto our last questions for the day. How do you feel about some people thinking that you are a traitor and others think that you are a hero for this great country.

Riel: Well to tell you the truth I don't care what people think but I think I have a reason why people think that I am a traitor because I led to groups agaianest MacDonald. Also I think that people hate me because I was helping a native group when I should have helped the government. I think people like me because I was a very good hero and yeah will bye.

Esmat: BYE CROWD!!!

Riel: Peace Guys

Esmat: Thank you Riel for being here BYE

Assignment # 7

4.Answer the following questions:
a.) Which category of Canadian Personalities interested you the most? Did you like the "we inspired", "we founded", "we fought", "we built" or "we governed" section the best? Why?
We fought was the one that caught my attention right away, because there are a lot of great hero's whom have fought for our land and for other things.

b.) Which personality interested you the most? Why? Find an image of him or her to embed (add to the body of your post) and write, in your own words, a short description of what he or she did and why he or she is your favourite. If you get information from any source, you must credit it by creating a link to it (that includes information from the site that I've asked you to look at).The person that interested me the most was Mordecai Richer, he was an awesome story writer. And in the old times a lot of people read his story's.That's why he interested me.

In your post, suggest three more influential Canadian personalities that could be added to this site. Why did you choose these people? Which categories would they fit into?I chose Gabrielle Roy because she was also another good story writer. And I chose James Wolfe and Louis-Joseph, Marquis De Montcalm beecause they were part of my favourite category, which is "we fought".Click her to read more about them.

7:

Go back to your post and answer the following question:
d.) Which History-Maker did you have the most in common with? Were you able to figure it out from the clues given? What do you share with that person? What are some things that are different between you and that person.

Answer:

The most in common was James Niasmith. Mr. Naismith is the inventor of my favourite sport which is called basketball. Yes I was able to figure it out becuase when it was starting to show the person I knew it was him because there was a basketball that was coming to him and also one of the clue said" I was presurred to call my new invention Naismithball but I preffered basketball, and that is when I knew it was him. What we share was that we both speak English and we would like to visit Europe and Asia, also we would like to be on a award or scholarship. Well the things that are different is that he was born here in Canada and I wasn't. Also our age difference and he is an inventor and I am not. Lastly, I am alive and he isn't.

8. Think long and hard about this part and then post an answer to this question on your blog:e.) One hundred years from now, (in 2109!) imagine that students are learning about Canadian History Makers and they discover you. What will you be remembered for?How were you a Canadian History Maker? You are using your imagination, so think about some things that you would like to accomplish in your life and imagine that you have all the accomplishments of your life to look back on. Write a short profile of yourself, imagining the contributions you have made to the future of Canada.

When I grow up I want to be remeber for a lot of things, alot of good things. The most important thing that I want to be rememberd is that something that I create like a time machine and people have with it because going back in time is pretty fun. Also I would like to be remembered as the first person that made a time machine beacuse it is really cool and also I would want to be rememberd to be the first man on a differnet planet because it would be cool going to another planet and being the first one would be such a great accomplishment.
Hope you like it:(Mrs. Pollock)

Assignment #4

Fisrt Person: James

James was really good and it had some very good points like the "If the world won't become corrupted by pollution, the world would go into chaos with the government and all the excess people. Also like "We should stop polluting or polluting less and start recycling".

Second: Mariam K

Mariam was also good and she had some okay points. The best one she had was "I think that there is going to be less war.Because now as you may no that America has a new president and I for one think hes going to make a big change" I liked that point a lot because I agree with her and I too, think that will happen.
Third:Jamal
Jamal had so good answers two. I really liked when he said"That moybe in the future there will be more peace". Also like when he said " I think there will be a lot of people in Canada so some of them might have to move out". That is might be true because Canada is such a good country right now and think of what might happen in 100 but there isn't enough space for many people.
Hope you enjoyed it.

Assignment 3

Well I think that in 2109 things are going to change because there is a new president and possibly the wars that is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan are going to stop. Also I think people are going to get smart and make more hybrid car and make less factories becuase that are some of the things that are ruining our country. Next I think that in 2109 the technolgy is going to be far advanced than right now so that will mean that people might be able to go to other planets on space ships. Lastly if that happens I think people will not make cars anymore and make space ships.

He played in the Kentucky's Wildcats which went to the national championships in 1998. He ended his college basketball with the nickname "big cat" because he has made an all-time record at Kentucky's Wildcats for blocking, which he made an all-time record of 268 blocks.

He is now a center starter for Miami Heats.

Assignment 5

Well the reason that I think they stayed was because of the education because the education here in Canada is really good. Second they stayed here because because in Canada there is al lot of freedom so they came here to do anything they want to do. Lastly they stayed here in Canada because in their own country the men were forced to join the army but here in Canada you have a choice to join the army so that is why they came here in Canada. So that is why they didn't leave Canada in the winter when it was very COLD.
